new zealand in a rush.

Apr 12, 2014 in surfing, watersport

After almost 12 years I went back to the other side of the globe. Destination: New Zealand Reason:  A wedding invitation from my good friends Stef & Dan. Luckily the wedding  has happened on the North Island, because I haven’t seen much of it so far.

To travel to down down under it takes a while and so we decided to have a 2 day stop over in Perth/WA for Australia day. After moving on and  flying in to Auckland we started a road trip to Whitianga, Tairua, Matamata (Hobbiton), Whakatane, Gisborne, Napier, Hastings and Roturua. And all this in 13 days … before my finger get wound from typing I truly recommend the pictures, they say more than words, though.

Here we go: check Perth & New Zealand Gallery

it’s been a while, back to brazil 2013.

Nov 09, 2013 in kitesurfing, watersport

After 4 years I made it finally back to the lovely country of Brazil. This time  I worked for Kite Mania Tour  as a kite instructor and we started our brazilian tour  in Natal which is in the state of rio grande de norte.

From Natal we took a little bus to the peninsula of Galinhos where we stayed at Georges & Claras little sweet pousada OASIS. Galinhos offers different spots inclucing a little wave spot  which was very nice to start with strapless waveriding. there’s another nice spot just behind some sand dunes but it’s only ridable at high tide.

After two weeks of Galinhos we had to say good bye to this paradise and we took another bus ride to the windtown of Cumbuco where we stayed for 10 days at Janneke’s pousada 0031 boutique.

If you com from Galinhos to Cumbuco it’s a little bit of a shock because everything is so crowded. It took me some days to get used to it. The good thing about Cumbuco is that you got more choices for dinner. I really enjoyed the Castanha 0031 restaurant which is run by Janneke and her husband as well. (the picanha is amazing)

After 10 days it was time to say good bye to Cumbuco and hour hosts. Next stop: Ilha do Guajiru.

Ilha do Guajiru is another small place clos to Itarema where you just find a few pousadas. No supermarkets or stores. But nice kitesurf conditions. If you wanna eat really good food just book you in for dinner or a room as well at David’s & Paz’s pousada windy addiction which is right on the corner when you come into the main street.

In Ilha do Guajiru is not much to do apart of kitesurfing and chilling. so you better bring some books or movies. we had a lovely stay there and the kitesurfing was just amazing…

In total it was again an awesome 5 week trip with 100% wind, sun and lovely people. looking forward to my next brazil visit….
