at the moment I work as a deck hand on the sailing yacht Lupa of London. we are based in Cogolin which is in the south of France and 10 km to Saint Tropez.

we had some plans to pick up a new mast in Breskens/Netherlands, but don’t mess with the elements. we just made it to Palma de Mallorca where we were stuck for 2 weeks.

now we are back in France and we are winting for our new mast to come down.

after 2 weeks of teaching for TEAMwaterworld on the Kitemania Tour in hamata/egypt I’m happy to show you the new OZONE C4 9m in a few action shots.  between the teaching hours I had a bit time to fly my new toy and now it’s time to say a few words about it.

the 2011 C4 was almost the perfect C-kite for my feelings, so it must have been a tough job for the R&D team to push the kite to the next level .

In my opinion they gave the 2012 C4 a bit more lift & hangtime and it feels that the kite pulls a bit more leeward in kiteloops, I guess the turning radius is a bit bigger and that generates the feeling of more power. the relaunch is still very easy und the bar pressure low which I really like, of course you have still the 3 options on the kite to play with the bar pressure .  the kite is very stable in the air and got enough depower to handle big gusts.

the C4 is a very powerful but easy to handle kite, you feel from the first minute comfortable with it. the quality is good as always and 2012 the deliver the kite in a real backpack.

so if you are looking for a 4-line c-kite, look for the next dealer and ask for some demo kites to check it by yourself on the water.

last tuesday we finally arrived in saint tropez / france. we hit the dock at 9 pm and went straight to a last crew dinner. food, wine and champaign were delicious.

after some nice sailing days and a few motor days we made it from st. maarten to the island faial/azores. we spent two nights there and continued our trip to st. tropez, but the swell direction stopped us after one day of sailing in 22-27 knots.

the captain decided to stop at the island of sao miguel/azores for a couple of days, so the sea state can calm down and the swell direction can change to northerlies and of course the win can drop as well from 35 knots. the plan is to leave in the early tuesday morning hours.

since 2 days I’m back in the caribbean and today we’ll leave the island of st. maarten by the beautiful sailing yacht Lupa of London. our destination will be St. Tropez in france with a short stopover on the azores island. so I’m off now, see ya in a few weeks.

aorund 2 pm the wind decided to drop down and so we started to chill on the beach at the Ozone tent. it was nice to see lots of people and friends from the kite scene again and start the 2011 season.

in my last south africa days for 2011 I had some nice hours riding the waves at big bay beach. we had a great time again and one thing is for sure, it was not the last time in this beautiful country. see ya soon.

today I was the first at hakgat beach just before 8 A.M.. the wind was already on and the waves were clean with a nice size.

yesterday I had a great kitesurf session near big bay. we had strong winds and huge waves, check out the pics…
